Happy birthday to me!

happybirthdayToday is my birthday, and at this age, I am three times as old as my elder son, and four times the age of my younger. My elder son is four years older than his younger brother. Can you tell how old I am?

You’re exactly right! I’m 48!

This year my appearance has changed because I have new glasses that are completely different in style to any I have worn before. Fashion, huh? What a nuisance. These glasses are also my first varifocals, and I am still getting used to how the world looks through them, as well as how I look in the eyes of the world.

Some people like to do fun things on their birthdays, but I prefer to do unpleasant jobs. That way the rest of the year can only get better, right? So this morning I filled in my online tax return, and this afternoon I plan to clean the bathroom.

It’s not all bad however. People have been very kind. I was delighted to receive some new books for my Kindle, and also some birthday money. Unfortunately, I’m not very skilled at spending money on myself, and have no idea what to buy. I will probably end up getting more books.

I was also astonished to find that fellow blogger, Iva Sallay, has created a maths puzzle as a birthday gift for me. I’m very much looking forward to trying to solve that later.

So I think my birthday will turn out well, despite the form-filling and toilet cleaning. I hope your day goes well too, and that it will be even more fun than mine!
